Website security is something I honestly didn’t think that much about before this lesson, but now I understand how important it actually is. If a website isn’t protected, someone could get access to your information, mess with your website, or even affect the people who visit it. Since I am using my website for San Miguel Pottery Land, I would definitely want to make sure the website and the people using it are protected. Three ways I can make my website more secure are using SSL to help keep information on the website protected, using security plugins like Wordfence to help protect against threats, and using strong passwords and limiting login attempts so it is harder for someone to get into an account.
User Roles I would Use
If I had multiple people helping me manage the website, I wouldn’t give everyone the same access. I would stay the Administrator because that role has full control of the website, including plugins, settings, users, and content. An Editor could manage and publish posts from different users, so I would use that role for someone I trusted to help manage the website. An Author could create, publish, and manage their own posts. A Contributor could write and edit their own posts but would need someone else to publish them. A Subscriber would have the least amount of access and would mainly be able to manage their own profile. I think separating the roles like this makes more sense because everyone only gets the access they actually need.
